First Look at the 2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M: Updates and Features

Yamaha’s updates for the 2025 YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M cater to both street and track riders with refined features. Despite halting the street-legal R1 in Europe earlier this year for a track-only model, the brand continues development in other markets, including the U.S.

The 2025 YZF-R1 now sports carbon fiber aerodynamic winglets to boost front-end stability and improve anti-wheelie control. Fully adjustable 43mm KYB inverted forks and Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers come standard, along with a new Brembo radial master cylinder for enhanced braking. Both the rider and passenger seats feature a new texture for better grip. Buyers can choose between Team Yamaha Blue and Matte Raven Black, starting at $18,999, with availability in November.

The 2025 YZF-R1M remains largely unchanged since it already features premium components like the Öhlins gas-charged NPX fork and IMU-based Electronic Racing Suspension. It adopts the new seat texture and aerodynamic winglets found in the standard R1. This model is available in a Carbon Fiber color scheme, priced at $27,699, and hits dealerships in March.

In Europe, Yamaha focuses on the R1 RACE model, exclusively for track use. Additional announcements on other R-Series sportbikes are expected in the coming weeks.
